BECOMING MRS. FINCH

“Are you ready to become Mrs. Finch tomorrow?” Finn asks lazily dripping warm water down my arm, as I relax into the comfort of his large body sitting behind me. We are in our huge soaker tub, washing away the stress of the upcoming wedding.

Twisting slightly, I turn to smile up at him. “Are you ready to become Mr. MacKay?”

“I’m not changing my name, princess,” he chuckles, cupping my cheek and leaning down to press his wet lips to mine. I melt further into his arms, opening up to my man’s possessive kiss. Drowning in the pleasure of his touch.

Pulling out of the kiss I nip at his stubbled jaw and ask, “But you expect me to change mine?”

“Yes.”

Finn scowls, his thick eyebrows darkening his face. I reach up and gently run my finger along the bridge of his nose, relaxing him. We’ve been having the same discussion for months. Since our engagement, when I learned that my fiancé assumed I would be changing my name when we married.

“Why?”

“You’re mine and I want everyone to know it,” he states fiercely, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me further into his embrace.

“I want everyone to know you’re mine too,” I counter back, raising my eyebrows.

“I think the wedding band you picked out for me says that,” he teases, brushing his lips against mine in a quick kiss. “Women will be able to see it a mile away.”

“My point exactly.”

“What?” He scrunches his eyebrows in adorable confusion.

“We’ll be wearing our wedding bands.” Water sloshes everywhere, as I twist my body in his arms, kneel between his legs, and wrap my arms around his neck. “People will know I’m taken before I ever tell them my name.”

“You’ve been taken all right,” Finn growls in my ear, running his hands down my back to palm my backside firmly. “I hope you’re ready for the honeymoon.”

“I still can’t believe you’re taking a whole two weeks off,” I rest my forehead on his. “And we’re going to Harry Potter World.”

When Finn began planning our honeymoon, he asked if there was a place I had always wanted to go, and I told him - Harry Potter World. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he would incorporate spending several days there into our honeymoon plans. My man has been working essentially non-stop since he and my cousin, Peter, merged our two companies, and I was shocked he would be able to leave for that long.

“Anything for you, princess,” he states fervently before grinning. “Except changing my name.”

I kiss his smile with my own. Despite my ongoing campaign for Finn to become a MacKay, I have already agreed to change my last name to Finch. Wanting to bind myself to my man even tighter.

My life has completely changed in the last year since Finn rescued me and we fell in love. I may not ever fully overcome the trauma of my kidnapping, but between my family, Finn, and my therapist I feel like myself again. I am ready for the lifelong adventure of marriage.

“I can’t wait to marry you,” Finn whispers, echoing my thoughts. “To be your husband.”

“We just have to get through the wedding,” I giggle.

“Remind me never to put Kitty and my mother in-charge of anything again,” he groans.

The two women took charge of the wedding with rampant enthusiasm and differing visions for how the day should proceed. In the end, Finn and I had to threaten to elope if they didn’t learn to compromise and work together.

“Just think,” I say, moving to lay on top of him and resting my chin on his chest. “This time tomorrow, we’ll be married and on our way to our honeymoon.”

Cupping my face in his large hands, Finn leans down brushes his lips against mine and says, “I love you, princess.”

“You too, almost-hubby.”
