Were you surprised?
This is the trope that gave us Darcy and Elizabeth (from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen) and probably half the books on your nightstand right now.
Here's the thing about Enemies to Lovers. It's not about the fighting. It's about the moment you realize the person you couldn't stand is the person you can't stop thinking about. And then you have to sit with that. That's the part that wrecks readers.
THE ROAD TO THE CROWN
First Round: Enemies to Lovers (51.1%) defeated He Falls First (48.9%). The pining never had a chance.
Quarterfinals: Enemies to Lovers (60%) defeated Billionaire Romance (40%). I'll admit I was suprised me how soundly the billionaires lost.
Semifinals: Enemies to Lovers (61.7%)defeated Single Dad (38.3%). The results of this matchup didn't suprise me, although the single dad trope can be popular it never makes the headlines.
Final: Enemies to Lovers defeated Grumpy Sunshine.
